plasma tv

In nineteen sixty four Donald Bitzer and H.Gene Slottow invented the plasma tv for the Plato computer system, in it's infancy it was more of a monitor than a television as it was not a colour monitor and was directly connected to the computer, rather than receiving transmission waves. These plasma televisions were monochrome meaning the back ground was the same colour as the text, it was usually green or orange, and they were popular in the seventies for a short period.

In nineteen seventy five another professor at the University of Illinois set about developing a colour screne. It took until nineteen ninety five for mass distribution to start. Due to the sleek, thin design of the plasma tv, superior picture quality and wide angle viewing screen, due to every pixel being individually lit, they have become very popular for home cinema.
